#1 - Recycling begins with You!
The first and most important part of recycling is you at home or at your place of work. Getting your recyclable materials to a collection point is the second step in the process of the recycling system. A variety of businesses play roles in the recycling industry. Some are small, some are large. Some offer specific services, while others are involved in all aspects of recycling. Six basic activities must take place for recycling to happen:
Don’t think of your garbage as something to simply throw away in your Kliko. Your waste has value and can be recycled! How? Simple! Just separate these different types of waste:
Glass: All types (bottles, jars, windows, etc.) and all colors (brown, clear, green). You don’t have to clean them or rinse them out, or remove the lids/caps/tops/corks. Just separate them from other waste.
You CANNOT recycle the following glass: blue colored, light bulbs, TL lights, and vehicle windshields. Remember plates, sinks, toilets, etc. are made of porcelain and are not glass and cannot be recycled.
Plastic: All types of drink containers (soft drink, water, juice, sport/energy drinks, etc.) and all colors (clear, blue, green, etc.) of plastic drink bottles. These plastic bottles should also be identified with the recycling symbol #1 as shown below.

The Construction and Demolition waste must be clean, meaning it should NOT contain any of the following: plastic, wood, roof tiles, metals (e.g. zinc roof plates), asbestos, wave roof plates, glass, dirt, large rocks, etc. The waste should also not be contaminated with oil, chemicals, etc.
Metals: All types of metals (steel, iron, copper, aluminum, galvanized, stainless steel, etc.) including white goods (refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, etc.), furniture, car parts, bicycles, etc. Anything made of metal!

Separate the different types of waste and bring your recyclable materials to one of Selikor’s recycling drop off centers.
